Property Theft.

Following a post earlier this week about copyright infringement    blinddogbooks.wordpress.com/2014/07/24/copyright-infingement-a-warning-to-all-authors

fellow author Owen Jones contacted Amazon and received the following information.

The best way to handle with this type of piracy issue is to file a complaint with intellectual property theft agency. In an attempt to help you I browsed the internet and was able to locate few websites which may help you in this regard.

http://www.ncpc.org/topics/intellectual-property-theft/where-to-report-intellectual-property-theft

http://www.fbi.gov/contact-us

I hope this is of help to anyone affected by this devious firm that is likely to cut you off if you try to challenge why they are carrying your books without permission and offering downloads for free in some instances.

All the best and Thanks Owen.

  1. Thanks for reblogging this! We’ve discovered that this site in question isn’t as much about property theft as it is gathering email addresses and infecting with malware any computers that click on the site and try to download the free eBooks offered. I, and many other authors who have attempted to have their books removed, have now had to deal with computer problems. And our books are still listed on the site! Attempts are now being made to have the site removed altogether. Thank you for spreading the word further about this difficult problem faced by all creators of copyright theft. Authors who own their own copyright should always be concerned about who else is illegally profiting from their intellectual property.

    • Thank you. I’m glad people are always on the ball and willing to share what they find out. There are some nasty people out there and at least people are forewarned now thanks to you and others like you.

  4. Thank you much for the heads up!

  5. Reblogged this on Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog….. An Author Promotions Enterprise! and commented:
Author David Prosser gives some useful links to help authors file their complaints about property theft of their books – please go along and say ‘Thank you’ to him 🙂

  6. Excellent links, David. Thanks for posting these.

    • Thanks Marylin, there are especially nasty people as they also want your email addresses and will spread viruses. That’s adding insult to injury.

  7. I know of a couple of writerly friends dealing with this kind of thing. I might forward this to them, if you don’t mind. Thanks for the assist.

    • Hi Melanie, feel free, the more people who know the better. I understand this bunch are not just ripping off the books but are using the email addresses gathered and spreading viruses also.

  8. This is great, David, thanks so much for sharing. These sites not only cause us grief, but are also set up to spread viruses and malware (as stated in other comments here). But it’s good to know we support each other and stick together 😀

    • Hi Dianne, finished changing your covers now? They were fun.
It’s a pleasure to share something like this that could affect many of us. No matter how many we are, we’re still a pretty tight community.
