Christmas Day 2015.

The wind seems to have eased and so far it’s more a feel of a frosty Christmas morning than a wet one though the forecasters seem to have the rain locked on, ready to fall. I have to hope that it doesn’t cause even more misery to those affected by the flooding in and around the Lake District and in the North West.
I’m breaking with tradition and doing an early ‘extra’ post just to say thank you to all my friends in ‘Barsetshire’. Though I’ve managed to stay out of hospital this year, I do seem to have had a few bouts of illness that had me whinging from the top of the Town Hall steps. I’ve been shown incredible friendship and kindness without exception all year.
This time I’m recovering very well on the antibiotics and steroids that are my standard fare. I’m going to have a Fantastic day today and if all goes well, tomorrow too. That is dependant on whether my new grandbaby decides to make an appearance a couple of days early or not. I hope not. On time would suit me very well which is 30th.
I wish you all a Wonderful Christmastide to celebrate in whatever fashion you prefer. But spare a thought for all those poor refugees who have lost their homes and traveled to a foreign land to find new ones. May their suffering be at an end and may they be shown half the kindness shown to me.
I consider you all Family. The same tightly knit group I have in the real world which make your problems my problems. Don’t keep them in. If you share problems one of your friends may just have a solution, or if not, at least the chance to offer comfort. We are all here for one another.

  1. Thanks, David. It’s great to know you’re feeling so much better. I’m especially happy for anyone who isn’t alone at a holiday, especially Christmas. We’ve talked on the phone with both our children and they’re fine. You never can be sure when a little one will make an appearance Both of mine were two weeks late. My husband said the babies came at the right time. The doctor made a mistake. Have a great time. It’s quiet here, but pleasant. Take care of yourself. Huge Hugs to you also. 🙂 — Suzanne

    • Two weeks late would be very uncomfortablefor poor Yvonne but I could stand a little delay to get the celebrations over. I’m glad you’ve spoken to Jay and Sayjal and hope they’re both OK.
      Have a Wonderful day.

  6. Merry Christmas, David. Weather here has been out of the ordinary and still above normal temperatures, which I will gladly accept. A city in my county had the first tornado EVER in December two days ago. Enjoy your day. I hope the new little one holds out until the due date too, but I bet Mama wants to deliver as soon as possible at this point. 🙂

    • A very Merry Christmas Mary J. Thank you for your kind wishes. The weather here hasn’t changed either, still rain and more forecast. Those that have suffered flooding just can’t get dry.
I will enjoy the day thank you, nice and quiet. You’re quite right, Yvonne wants the new arrival pronto now but 30th isn’t far off.
      Enjoy the holiday

      • We have indeed…oneofthebest we can remember…picked up new sheep in the morning, made the acquaintance of the man doing the transport who has a fund of stories and saw a new humming bird on the balcony.

      • That’s wonderful Helen. A new source of stories is always a wonderful thing to keep you busy at the end of a day. Seeing a new humming bird is a source of excitement.I can’t imagine the delight at seeing something so beautifully coloured over here.

  14. Merry Christmas, David. So glad you’re feeling better. Have a great day and hugs to all.

  15. Dear David, Merry Christmas. I hope you’ve had a lovely day. It’s certainly been very wet and windy here in the South today, but I’ve just come back from a walk with Toby and, although it’s still windy, the rain has eased.
I’m the only one left in the house awake so am just about to open another bottle and get ready for Downton.
Sending you lots of hugs and wishing you a healthy, happy and successful New Year.
    Seasons Greeting,
    Hugh

    • Dear Hugh, I’ve had a grand day thanks. It’s been very wet and very windy but I’ve been on the right side of the walls.
I’m glad to hear the rain has at east eased somewhat for you there as the forecasts aren’t too kind to us again in the days to come.
Whatever it is you’re opening another bottle of before Downton, give yourself a wee toast on my behalf for being such a great friend to me these last months.
      Gigantic Hugs

  16. Hugs galore to you, too, David. I’m glad the antibiotics and steroids are working. I did 10 days of antibiotics 4Xdaily for an eye infection with sinus inflammation and ear infections. Antibiotics wear me down, but I’m grateful they worked. The last to respond is the ear infection. At the Christmas Eve candle light service, I was practically deaf in one ear, and Molly kept smiling and nudging me. She finally wrote me a note saying I didn’t need to sing the hymns so loud, and this started us both laughing. I couldn’t hear how loud I was singing!
Reuben will either charge you up, Grandpa, or wear you out in a wonderful, happy way, David. Merry Christmas to you all!

    • I’m so glad your antobiotics worked too, even if it did leave you a little loud on Christmas Eve….all the better to hear you Christmas Day.
Whatever Roobs does will be sure to make it an interesting day but hopefully unwrapping will keep him occupied for a while.
Thanks so much for your kindness Marylin. Have a wonderful Christmastide and a glorious New Year.

    • it was a lovely, very quiet day Ina. Today will be a day to get my head round when I visit the family for gift swapping and my nemesis Reuben will be there ready to rip and tear. Health wise is improving thank you.
I hope all your celebrations have gone well so far. I wish you the Happiest New Year ever with all the changes you write about being positive.

      • Thank you David and even if gift-swapping has become a bit of a mechanised social ritual it does hold a wonderful suspense – and so the ripping and tearing becomes a new joy – every time 😀 My was fabulous with family and friends and the best was Midnight Mass in Sydney’s St Mary’s Cathedral – the big bells sang at midnight while all stood still – fantastic. Cheers and good to know health improving. Big hugs too 😀
